Wise Old Man of Isle Royale has been busy in the last month finalizing plans to purchase a storefront in Copper Harbor. We are located at 234 6th Street, right next to the Bella Vista Motel, kitty corner from the King Copper Motel and a block away from the Isle Royale Queen VI dock.
In our new storefront, Wise Old Man of Isle Royale will continue to book guide services and offer gear rentals, but we are expanding to include the sales of backpacking, camping, and outdoor gear in our Copper Harbor location.
We will stock outerwear, socks, base layers, rain gear, tents, sleeping bags and pads, and last-minute and other items that you may have forgotten, such as gloves, hats, snacks, and a variety of dehydrated food and backpacking treats, as well as essential first-aid, toiletries, and gear repair items.
We will open our doors at noon, on Sunday, May 12, on the afternoon prior to the Isle Royale Queen IV’s first departure of the season.
Stop by to weigh your pack on the pack scale and make last-minute tweaks. We are there to chat about trail conditions and all Isle Royale news that we have to share.
Our proposed hours for the season are from noon to 9:00 on days that will coordinate with the Queen IV schedule, and our aim is to be there and open to serve the needs of the outdoors community. Be sure to stop in and say hello.
Hey Duane…very cool. I wondered what was going to happen with that big space. Suggestion…grab and go breakfast sandwiches starting at 7 am. Dry bags, moleskin, maps, my cookbook, etc. See you this summer.
